For days too rainy, days too sunny, or just days when you want to have indoor fun with the kids – head down to My Tree House at the Central Public Library!

With a tree house structure as a centerpiece, this unconventional library is a wonderful space to initiate your children into the world of books – and environmental awareness. The canopy features over 3,000 recycled plastic bottles. Cardboard boxes upcycled into animal shapes populate the floorspace. Origami flowers hang from the ceiling.  And perhaps best of all – children are allowed to make a little noise here!

The library caters to a range of ages. Toddlers – free from getting shushed – can explore books as well as navigate the tree house. Older boys and girls can interact with The Knowledge Tree – a shadow play wall – to learn about the environment and energy conservation. Budding meteorologists can discover Singapore’s real-time weather information through The Weather Stump. And then there are the 45,000 green-themed books, on topics ranging from animals to enchanted forests!

So, go ahead and have a fun day in – your kids are sure to end it with a good read and a great time! (Mine sure did!)
