I am always amazed to see how creative people are when it comes to restoring things or re-using old items with a new twist. Keeping that in mind I decided to take on the Under50dollars challenge. I went to our local flea market, looking for something old to transform anew. But sadly, it wasn’t my lucky day and I didn’t really find anything I could work with!

So I decided to do a fresh DIY for under 50 dollars and settled on something I could buy new and customize- a pair of plain and dull grey sneakers. It doesn’t meet the challenge requirements- but if you have a pair of sneakers to personalise, you can transform them for under50$ like I did!

I also picked up different colored laces since I wasn’t sure how I was going to customize the shoes- I only knew I did not want to keep the white laces. Then I went to my local Walmart and picked up some supplies from the arts and craft section- glitter and a permanent marker. I was ready to start!

I started with piping the shoes with the permanent marker. Then I used glitter in the front portion.

I personalized the back of the shoe with paw marks since I love my dog…and I didn’t want to make too many designs on this pair so that I could match it with most of my clothes.

Once the glitter was dry, I tied both the laces I had picked up and chose my favorite. And now they are ready to be worn!

Wearing my own customized shoes and have people asking me to make them a pair as well- priceless!
