Isn’t it amazing what a bit of fixing and a can of spray paint can do? At first glance this dusty, old Singer sewing machine from Thieves Market with a rotting wood top didn’t look like it had much hope [and I told my husband so with the requisite raised eyebrows]. But after a good sandpaper scrubbing, spray painting on the base, and a clear glass on top, it transformed into a fabulous, charming and stylish console table!

One man’s trash is another man’s treasure! At Secondsguru, we love to see an upcycling story like this vintage sewing machine that got a glam makeover.

We purchased the sewing machine table for only $20, but the joy of flipping it into an eye-catching conversation starter is priceless. Truly a steal!

  • Hi, how do you remove the top of the sewing machine?

  • This is fabulous! I’m inspired to embark on the same project. May I know where I can get the glass top from?

    • Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your comment. I just searched online for custom cut tempered glass in Singapore and then visited a store just outside little India in the Jalan Besar market. Hope this helps :-).
Good luck. Do share your project outcome with us on blog@secondsguru.com!

      Looking forward
      Team Secondsguru!

      • Hye. What do you used to make the glass stable? Was it glue?

      • Hi Adiba, The tempered glass piece was made locally by a glass manufacturer in Singapore. It was attached it to the table using the 3M heavy duty double sided tape. Hope that works for you too!
