Isn’t it amazing what a bit of fixing and a can of spray paint can do? At first glance this dusty, old Singer sewing machine from Thieves Market with a rotting wood top didn’t look like it had much hope [and I told my husband so with the requisite raised eyebrows]. But after a good sandpaper scrubbing, spray painting on the base, and a clear glass on top, it transformed into a fabulous, charming and stylish console table!
We purchased the sewing machine table for only $20, but the joy of flipping it into an eye-catching conversation starter is priceless. Truly a steal!

29 October 2015This is fabulous! I’m inspired to embark on the same project. May I know where I can get the glass top from?

31 October 2015Hi Wendy,
Thanks for your comment. I just searched online for custom cut tempered glass in Singapore and then visited a store just outside little India in the Jalan Besar market. Hope this helps :-).
Good luck. Do share your project outcome with us on blog@secondsguru.com!
Looking forward
Team Secondsguru!

18 September 2017Hye. What do you used to make the glass stable? Was it glue?

20 September 2017Hi Adiba, The tempered glass piece was made locally by a glass manufacturer in Singapore. It was attached it to the table using the 3M heavy duty double sided tape. Hope that works for you too!
